Established in 1919, The Cuyahoga County Board of Health is one of the largest health districts throughout the United States. It supports a range of public health programs and services. The board offers environmental health, nursing, epidemiology surveillance and informatics and community health services. The Cuyahoga County Board of Health administers a residential child care inspection program that conducts inspections of pre-school and school-aged child care facilities that are licensed and inspected by the Ohio Department of Education. Its community health services include ageing, tobacco use prevention, lead poisoning and cardiovascular health programs, as well as child and family health services.
