Greenville County School District was formed in 1951 with the merger of more than 80 local school districts. The area served by the district covers more than 800 square miles and includes Greenville, Laurens and Spartanburg counties in South Carolina. The district provides educational opportunities to students in prekindergarten through grade 12. It governs several elementary, middle and high schools that include Heritage Elementary, Hollis Academy, Mauldin Elementary, League Academy, Hillcrest High School and Carolina Academy. It also governs adult education and fine arts learning center, such as J. Harley Bonds Resource Center, Donaldson Center and Enoree Career. The district offers extended day after school program opportunities for children needing supervision. It also offers a full range of International Baccalaureate curriculums that include primary years, middle years and diploma. Greenville County School District has athletic teams in basketball, wrestling and football.
