This refuge spans 317 acres from the Sprague Bridge on Boston Neck Road in Narragansett through South Kingstown and ends in Charlestown. It is recognized as one of the largest sanctuaries for black duck, plovers and other salt marsh creatures, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
In Narragansett, the refuge can be reached by kayak from dawn to dusk. The access point is at Sprague Bridge. The Trustom Pond Contact Station in South Kingstown and the Kettle Pond Visitor's Center in Charlestown both provide information about the refuge.
