Founded in 1951, FlightSafety International provides aviation training to more than 65,000 aircraft and ship operators at over 40 learning centers in the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom. The company maintains a fleet of more than 200 advanced simulators and provides a variety of simulation equipment and software. FlightSafety International s courseware support division designs and develops courseware materials for the company s training programs. Its subsidiary, MarineSafety, offers a variety of training and research services to domestic and commercial operators and the U.S. Navy. The company offers Federal Aviation Administration-approved training for more than 130 aircraft models. It also offers more than 3,000 courses for pilots, maintenance technicians, flight attendants and dispatchers. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, which oversees and manages various subsidiary companies engaged in a variety of business activities.
