Battelle, established in 1929, is a global science and technology enterprise that develops and commercializes technology, and manages laboratories for customers. The organization with a staff of scientists, engineers and support specialists conducts more than $3 billion in annual research and development that results in 50 to 100 patented inventions each year. Battelle serves the U.S. Department of Energy in the operation of five national laboratories, including Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and Idaho National Laboratory. The organization also team with more than 800 federal, state and local government agencies to provide services in the areas of national security, homeland defense, health and life sciences, energy, transportation and environment.
