Established in 1894, North Carolina School for the Deaf is a residential facility for the education of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Based in Morganton, N.C., the school offers a variety of academic programs in the categories of elementary, middle school, high school and accountability/testing. Its elementary school curriculum includes all areas of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, including reading, writing, mathematics and social studies. North Carolina School for the Deaf is accredited by the Conference of Educational Administrators Serving the Deaf (CEASD).
