Founded in 1913, the Crossnore School is a nonprofit organization that provides accommodation and education to children. It offers short-and long- term residential programs to victims of substance abuse. The school takes care of children without parents and guardians. It provides a 90-days residential program for neglected children. The school s campus includes an academy, a dinning hall and a respite cottage. Its academy is certified and recognized by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. It provides education to approximately 90 residents and day scholars. The school s dinning hall offers breakfast and lunches to campus residents. The school also offers opportunity for recreation, travel and cultural activities. It has a weaving room and a museum for works of art and craft. Crossnore School is approved by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
