Henderson County Public Schools is a system that works to provide learning opportunities and a safe environment to students. It is comprised of more than 20 schools with over 13,000 students. The system has nearly 20 elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as the Balfour Education Center. Henderson County Public Schools is governed by a board of education that establishes policies for the operation of the school district and oversees their implementation. It operates administration, athletics, child nutrition, transportation, facilities and maintenance divisions. The system also maintains a finance department that coordinates, processes and monitors the systemwide purchase of goods and services, the payment of salaries and the preparation of the annual budget. Henderson County Public Schools is comprised of approximately 1,500 full- and part-time employees. It is located in Hendersonville, N.C.
