Island Cottage Woods Preserve

HistoryThis 61-acre preserve is a favorite birding site consisting of a partially wooded area bordering the western edge of Round Pond. It is tops among local, critical migratory bird stopover habitats. A 1/2-mile trail loops through woods and has a few views over the cattail wetlands. An extension connects along the edge of the Round Pond marsh to Schaller's Woods (privately owned.) This preserve is open dusk until dawn.SpecialtiesGenesee Land Trust preserves and protects natural lands and waterways that enhance the quality of life in the Greater Rochester region - providing wildlife habitat, locally grown food, and connections to nature.
