The Eastern Long Island Hospital Foundation was formed in 2006 to help meet the hospital's capital needs such as updated equipment and building improvements. It also serves as a "connection between today's care and tomorrow's technology" through fundraising and by building partnerships with prominent community groups such as Southold Town. The group is currently working to raise funds for a multi-million dollar "Second Century Campaign."
So far, the foundation has helped the hospital incorporate updated technological health care tools such as digital mammography, patient-controlled anesthesia pumps and urological optic scopes. Other goals are to enhance the operating room suites, expand the behavioral health department and to attract and retain qualified physicians.
