WJTV is the CBS local television affiliate that provides news, programming, entertainment and information to residents of the greater Jackson, Miss., area. WJTV, which broadcasts on channel 12 and channel 51, began operations in January, 1953 as WSLI. It was Mississippi's first television station. The station is owned and operated by Media General, a diversified communications company that operates newspapers, television stations and online enterprises, primarily in the Southeastern United States.
