Archibald Granville Bush and his wife, Edyth Bassler Bush, created the Bush Foundation in 1953 to encourage and promote charitable, scientific, literary, and educational efforts. The Archibald Bush Foundation is an independent, private foundation with a regional grantmaking focus. To enhance the quality of life in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, the Foundation has provided grants and fellowships, totaling over $600 million since its founding, to support the work of nonprofit organizations and the professional development of individuals. Bush Foundation is a member of the Minnesota Council on Foundations and the national Council on Foundations. It also subscribes to the Minnesota Council s Principles for Minnesota grant makers.
