Muhammad Hamdan, M.D., is board certified in both hematology and oncology. He received his medical degree from the School of Medicine Damascus University in Syria. Dr. Hamdan attended the medical research master's program at Wayne State University with a primary focus on malignant hematology. He completed his residency program at Wayne State University with superior evaluation in both medical and professional evaluations. Dr. Hamdan then completed his fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, with a focus on isolation of metastatic genes in lung cancer. Before joining UM Health-Sparrow's oncology team, Dr. Hamdan was the Associate Medical Director of the Great Lakes Cancer Institute from 1999 to 2006. He has several publications in various medical journals and has given several research presentations at American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
