James Herman, M.D., has been a member of Sparrow's oncology team since 1983. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and radiation oncology. He received his medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada. Dr. Herman completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Michigan and an internal medicine residency at McGill University Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He also completed a residency in medical oncology as well as a residency and fellowship in radiation oncology at the University of Toronto, Princess Margaret Hospital. Treating all cancer types, Dr. Herman has been instrumental in developing and implementing Sparrow's multidisciplinary oncology clinics. His greatest ability is his strong communication with Patients and their families.

Dr. Srkalovic is also the Director of the Clinical Trials Office and a Physician at UM Health-Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, practicing hematology and oncology. Dr. Srkalovic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and received his medical degree and Master of Science degree from the University of Sarajevo Medical School, as well as his Ph.D from the University of Tuzla Medical School. He was also a professor, head of the physiology department, and vice dean of the Medical School at the University of Tuzla. He has been a research associate at both Tulane Medical School and Kent State University. Dr. Srkalovic completed his hematology and oncology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he later became the associate director of the Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship Program at the Taussig Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Srkalovic has an extensive research background and interest in multiple myeloma and other plasma cell malignancies, and has been an active member of several major Clinical Trial Groups since 2000. He has written over 60 papers for peer review journals and over 60 abstracts presented at national meetings.

Hussein M. Ali-Ahmad, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Oncology, American Board of Hematology and the American Board of International Medicine. Before joining Sparrow’s oncology team, Dr. Ali-Ahmad practiced at Roswell Park Center Institute Oncology P.C. His education and medical training started at Lebanese University. Graduating in 2001, he moved from Faculty Sciences to Faculty of Medical Science to earn his Doctor of Medicine Diploma. He then completed his internal medicine residency. Dr. Ali-Ahmad also completed a second postgraduate internal medicine residency at BronxCare Health System in New York City prior to becoming a Fellow in Hematology/Oncology at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, and Lebanese Order of Physicians. His honors and awards include a full academic scholarship at Lebanese University and a Medal of Excellency, both from the Board of Specialization and Academic Orientation. Dr. Ali-Ahmad has been published in clinical advances in hematology and oncology, and developed a case presentation and review of literature addressing the hydatid cyst of the kidney for Lebanese University. Several of his reviews have been officially presented at Oklahoma University Medical Center.
