The Melvindale Housing Commission (MHC) is a public housing commission established by the City of Melvindale in 1977 to provide affordable housing for low-income residents of Wayne County, Michigan. MHC currently serves nearly 350 households and offers a range of housing options, including Coogan Terrace, a premier affordable apartment community that underwent major renovations in 2020.
MHC is committed to creating and preserving affordable housing, as well as providing related supportive services for low-income households. Governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, MHC works in partnership with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to meet the diverse needs of Wayne County residents through innovative programs and effective stewardship.
