Founded in 1950, the Glynn County Fire Department is governed by Glynn County in Georgia. It is a volunteer department that is responsible for the protection of lives and properties of more than 60,000 residents. The department provides a range of fire suppression and prevention and emergency medical services. It offers hazardous materials response, search and rescue, cause and origin investigation, and code review and enforcement services. The Glynn County Fire Department operates more than five fire stations and responds to emergency calls. It also provides automatic aid to the Brunswick Fire Department and the Jekyll Island Fire Department. The department specializes in the construction and maintenance of facilities and inspection of public buildings. Its facilities feature a training tower, maintenance complex and administration center. The Glynn County Fire Department s equipment list includes engines, ladder towers, tankers and investigation units. It also administers the Smoke Detector Program, which includes the installation of smoke detectors in residential areas. The department additionally offers industrial and aircraft rescue and firefighting services. It has achieved ISO certification. The Glynn County Fire Department participates in various fundraising events and supports charitable organizations. It has received the Award of Excellence by the Station House Fire & Rescue Department.
