Also known as Tod's Point, Greenwich Point is a popular recreational park on a peninsula into Long Island Sound.
The parcel is named after former owner and Scottish merchant banker, J. Kennedy Tod, who transformed the coastal property into a grand estate. In 1945 when Tod died, the Town bought the parcel or $550,000 and remodeled the mansion into apartments for returning veterans.
Today, the park's sandy beaches and waterfront location make it a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming, fishing, boating and water sports. Lifeguards are on duty daily from 10am - 6pm from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
On land, a network of trails leads along the coastline; maps are available at the Bruce Museum.
The space is open to residents from 6am - sunset daily, though Park/Beach Passes are required from May 1 through October 31.
Dogs are not allowed during the summer months and must be leashed during the winter.
