The fairgrounds hosts the Alameda County Fair and is operated by the Alameda County Agricultural Fair Association. It is a 270-acre facility, with 10 buildings and a one-mile horse racing track. It also hosts a variety of events including trade and consumer shows, conventions, festivals, weddings and banquets.
The first modern-day Alameda County Fair was held in 1939. In 2009, the fair attracted more than 400,000 attendees.
