History
Started in a small corner of downtown Safford with 4 employees, including the owner. Business grew as people discovered the great authentic taste of the chili and salsa and the family friendly service. Our family, Overstreet & Hoopes, purchased the restaurant in 1979 and have continued the consistently good food and service that we have become famous for in the Gila Valley, the state of Arizona, and in places such as Alaska, Australia & Mexico. Our staff is experienced and knowing of Mexican food preparation. Our head cook, Mary Lou Alva, has been with us for 32 years; assistant cook, Irene Escobedo,18 years; our head cashier and server, Maria Escobedo, for 19 years; Johnny Jurado, 30 years (since he was 17 years old) and Adriana Munoz, front manager, 9 years. Many of our employees are daughters, sons, nieces, nephews of previous employees. We are the best you can get for Mexican food in the Gila Valley and, we think, in the state of Arizona.
Specialties
Our menu is inspired by traditional Sonoran style Mexican food with some influence from Jalisco. It has naturally obtained a Gila Valley twist that keeps the locals and visitors coming back.
