The Preventive Health and Safety Division is operated by the Wyoming Department of Health, which is a state agency that provides health and human services in Wyoming. The Preventive Health and Safety Division operates emerging disease and health statistics, chronic disease, communicable disease and environmental public health units. The division runs the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection, Cancer Surveillance, Comprehensive Cancer Control, Diabetes Prevention and Control and Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention programs. It also operates HIV, AIDS and hepatitis, lead poisoning prevention, sexually transmitted diseases and tuberculosis control and prevention programs. The Preventive Health and Safety Division uses the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, which is a telephone survey to gather information on the prevalence of chronic disease, acute illness, injury, disability and premature death among the people of Wyoming. The division is located in Cheyenne, Wyo.
