History
The Planetarium is owned and operated by the Natrona County School District. Our primary mission is to provide science instruction for the students in the district, but we also have shows that are open to the public. In 2005 we changed over from the old-fashioned star projector to a 360-degree digital projector, which was upgraded in 2018 to a higher resolution digital projector. The Planetarium has hosted presentations ranging from NASA astronauts speaking about their experiences in space to enhanced radio theatre style shows of science fiction classics co-produced with Stage III Community Theatre. Our student internship program and summer Astronomy Day Camps offer additional learning opportunities for students.
Specialties
The Casper Planetarium shows full-dome programs about astronomy and science on a 30-foot dome. Our lobby includes interactive science displays and a gift shop. Special telescope viewing sessions are held to observe celestial events, weather permitting.
