Safe Kids Greater Green Bay The Safe Kids Greater Green Bay Coalition is made up of individuals and organizations committed to reducing the incidents of accidental childhood injuries. The Center for Childhood Safety is the lead organization for the coalition and as such, provides resources and staff to lead the coalition and work actively with the members. Coalition members include law enforcement, fire professionals, health care professionals, social service agencies and other interested community organizations. The coalition hosts special events like car seat check up, bike rodeos and health fairs. They work closely with other organizations in the community to spread safety messages to young children and their families. On an organizational level, Safe Kids is a local leader for a range of activities and programs intended to decrease injuries in children across a range of risk areas. Our united efforts maximize limited resources, minimize duplication of efforts and ultimately reach more people with safety messages. Coalitions can have a major impact on safety issues by joining the expertise of its members with broad-based representation of citizens, achieving practical safety improvements through public policy, regulatory changes and legislative initiatives. The Safe Kids Greater Green Bay Coalition boasts an active group of individuals that represent a variety of agencies and jurisdictions within and outside of Brown County. We join together annually to host two large events, January's Safe Kids Greater Green Bay Superbowl of Safety at the Lambeau Field Atrium, sponsored by Bellin Health, and the Big Splash for Safe Kids event, which was held at the NEW Zoo this past year and had an attendance of nearly 1400. We lead an active group of certified child passenger safety technicians in hosting car seat inspections at area car dealerships throughout the year. The coalition is also active in bike helmet safety initiatives and in the Center for Childhood Safety's, SAFETY TOWN summer program held each year at Howe Elementary School.
