The Division of Forensic Sciences (DFS) is the home of the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratories (WSCL), providing unbiased and high-quality forensic science testing for various disciplines across all communities in Wisconsin. With a team of top-notch scientists, many of whom are nationally recognized leaders in the field, DFS offers a range of forensic science testing capabilities and internship opportunities.
Established in 1947, WSCL has grown from its humble beginnings to employ over 180 forensic scientists, laboratory technicians, and management, operating four distinct bureaus and serving all 72 counties in Wisconsin. Following a reorganization in 2019, DFS has undergone a transformative period, focusing on objective scientific analysis, adherence to national forensic science standards, and the development of personnel, infrastructure, and equipment to ensure the highest standards of forensic testing.
