Winnebago Mental Health Institute serves as a specialized component in a community-based mental health delivery system. The institute is responsible for meeting the needs for specialized services that cannot be met by community agencies. Winnebago's programs are designed to serve mentally ill children and adults, severely disturbed and difficult patients and forensic patients, all requiring specialized services. They also provide specialized inpatient psychiatric evaluations, individualized multidisciplinary treatment, consultation to community mental health programs and training and education services to students and practitioners in the mental health field. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations also accredits the hospital. Established in 1873, Winnebago Mental Health Institution Winnebago has headquarters in 1873.
