Established in 1966, Western Dairyland Community Action Agency is located in Independence, Wis. The agency is governed by a 24-member board of directors that represents a cross section of the community. The agency provides business development programs that include group business training, referrals, financing, technology and ongoing business case management services. Its women's business center offers technical assistance, including business plan development, marketing assistance and Internet training. Western Dairyland Community Action Agency offers housing services and financial help to underprivileged families. Its Head Start program includes education, and health and social services. Additionally, its women's health centers provide medical examinations, Pap smears, contraceptive supplies, information, counseling, and infection and pregnancy testing services. Western Dairyland Community Action Agency also offers transportation and automobile purchase programs.
