The Wausau Fire Department offers a variety of fire rescue operations and services to residents of Wausau, Wis. It employs more than 60 people. The fire department employs firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics, hazardous materials response technicians, emergency vehicle operators and rescuers. It has various facilities and equipment that include pumpers, aerial ladders, ambulances, automobiles and vans, and heavy-duty rescue and extrication trucks. The department also has hazardous materials incident command vehicles and equipment trailers, decontamination vehicles and rescue boats. It organizes public education programs that include fire station tours, open houses, and public demonstrations and displays of fire engines and equipment at schools. The department provides smoke investigation surveys and audits. The division additionally offers medical aids to people in emergencies and additionally provides 24-hour fire security services to the community.
