Founded in 1964, the Computer Sciences Department offers various graduate and undergraduate programs. It provides courses in numerical analysis, math programming, systems performance modeling, and algorithms and complexity. The department maintains a computer systems laboratory and the Center for High-Throughput Computing. The Computer Sciences Department also offers research programs in computational biology, database systems, and computer security and networks. It provides courses in databases, networking, software engineering, operating systems, computer animation and architecture, and programming languages and compilers. In addition, the department organizes several computer events and seminars. The Computer Sciences Department is a part of the University of Wisconsin Madison.
