Perhaps the most uniquely appointed business in Muskego, the Gingerbread House serves coffee, baked goods, lunch, dinner and a good dose of nostalgia in an 1885 farmhouse. Lovingly restored and renovated to accommodate a dine-in crowd, the Gingerbread House also features an outdoor deck to serve guests outside in the warm weather months. There is also an upstairs boutique, which includes home decor, gifts and European clothing.
While the Gingerbread House has a convenient drive-thru for a quick cup of coffee or other brewed beverage, the experience is really about taking it slow and enjoying the ambiance inside, which has a cozy fireplace and tin ceiling. Breakfast is served on weekends only. Also featured in summer/fall (Memorial Day - Halloween) is the ice cream shop, located just to the south of the main farmhouse. The charm here is no facade—the "Chicken Crossing" sign means it, as often you will find a stray hen strolling around the grounds.
