The Safety and Buildings Division is a part of the Department of Commerce, which is governed by the state of Wisconsin. The division reviews plans for public facilities prior to construction for compliance with building codes. It provides consulting and educational programs for designers, builders and local officials. The Safety and Buildings Division cooperates with local municipalities that provide plan review and inspection services for various types of buildings. The division offers electrical consultation solutions for homeowners, builders, inspectors, electricians and designers. In addition, it enforces safety requirements for heating boilers, pressure vessels and nuclear power plant components. The Safety and Buildings Division also administers welder and weld test conductor credentials.
