The Sinsinawa Dominicans are a congregation of vowed Catholic women committed to the Dominican mission of proclaiming the Gospel through preaching and teaching. It was founded by Father Samuel Charles Mazzuchelli in 1847. The order also founded Edgewood College and Dominican University of Illinois. The organization operates various ministries, including pastoral, HIV/AIDS and Hispanic. Its archives department provides information on Sinsinawa Dominican heritage, individual Sisters, schools ministered by Sisters and historical facts. Its social services counselors help the visually impaired in becoming artists through working with clay, basket weaving and other crafts. The organization s bookshop offers a variety of reading material and gift items. The Sinsinawa Dominicans mother house is located in Sinsinawa, Wis., in the Diocese of Madison.
