News and EventsTenant, Real Estate Brokerage, and Government RelationshipsLivesey Company Tenants Livesey Company was founded by John P. Livesey in the early 1960's with an initial focus on investing in multi-family residential projects. Mr. Livesey learned the true meaning and value of a hard day's work by regularly working 70-plus hours per week in his commercial painting business. With steadfast determination he built Livesey Painting into one of the largest commercial painting businesses in Wisconsin before selling it to focus on his true passion developing commercial real estate. After a few short years of buying and developing apartment properties in the Madison area, Mr. Livesey decided to turn his attention toward retail and office development. In the following years he developed numerous projects in Madison, Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Wausau, Sheboygan, Richland Center, Berlin, Sturgeon Bay, and several other communities in Wisconsin. Though he's far from finished, to date Mr. Livesey has developed several million square feet of commercial space whose total value exceeds $500 million. Mr. Livesey is a true visionary and is one of the best land developers the Madison area has ever seen. Although Mr. Livesey remains active in the Company, day-to-day control has been turned over to his eldest son, John K. Livesey. After spending 2 years in the University of Wisconsin Graduate School for Real Estate, John K. joined the Company in 1986. John K. has worked tirelessly over the past 20 years in developing stable, fundamentally sound, 100%-leased commercial projects. Recent high-profile projects include Discovery Springs in Middleton and Pier 37 in Monona. To date, roughly 450, 000 square feet of buildings have been built in the two developments with the total value exceeding $75 million. John K. has completed many other small, fully-leased developments in the past few years as well. John has completed deals with countless retailers, restaurants, and businesses including Dean Medical, UW Health, Famous Footwear, P.F. Chang's, Walgreen's, Starbuck's, Noodles & Company, Quaker Steak & Lube, Office Depot, Staples, ANiU Salon Spa Yoga, Center For Cosmetic Dentistry, Roundy's, Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Applebee's and many others. In early 2005, John P. and John K. decided to make Alex J. Weis a junior partner. Alex started with the company as a leasing broker in early 1998 and his background includes finance, sales, and construction. He has played a key role in the leasing and development of most Livesey Company projects since his start. Recent projects include a $5 million re-development of Marketplace Shopping Center in Appleton and development of the 7th and final retail building at Pier 37. Alex is currently focused on maintaining and enhancing the financial stability of the Company's portfolio of existing properties as well as developing 2 high-profile, multi-tenant projects in Sun Prairie whose initial tenants include Walgreen's and Park Bank.
