St. Croix County's Homestead Parklands is tucked away on a beautiful stretch of land on Perch Lake more than 8 miles north of the city. You have to pay a fee to access this county park by vehicle, but it's free if you walk in. Once inside, you'll be able to fish on Perch Lake, rent row boats and canoes, swim at the beach or stretch your legs while hiking the park's several trails. The park is closed to vehicles in the winter months, but you can still enter by foot any time of the year.
