Tucked into the limestone bluffs on Coulee Road just 1/2 mile north of I-94 from exit 1, the Historic Casanova Liquor store and The Nova Wine Bar have roots in 1896 when it began as Casanova Beverage Co. A brewery up until Prohibition, Cananova then became a soda bottling company and distributor.
In the 1970s, the bottling center became a liquor store. The full-service, off-sale liquor store features wine, domestic and imported beers, microbrews, liquor and mixes. Make your own six-pack to sample from more than 300 single beers. An e-newsletter, beer and wine of the month special, and a blog, Beer Geek Heaven linked on the web site, keep customers in the know.
The Nova Wine Bar opened in 2004 in an adjoining area of the historic building. The Nova features some 200 varieties of bottled wine and 30 wines by the glass plus a changing, seasonal-inspired menu. Select from entrees sandwiches, pasta, pizza, salads, small plates, appetizers and desserts. Knowledgeable staff will help you select the perfect wine pairing or craft beer with your repast. The eclectic interior features comfy, intimate seating with fireplace and live entertainment. Seasonal outside seating available as well. Wine classes are offered.
The original cave, extending 150 feet into the limestone bluff, is used occasionally for events such as Halloween Haunted Caves.
