Edgewater Generating Station is a 380 MW coal power plant situated on the south side of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, along the shores of Lake Michigan. Owned by Alliant Energy and WEC Energy Group, it serves customers in the northeastern part of Alliant Energy's Wisconsin Power Light service area as well as local municipal utilities.
Since its commissioning in the early 20th century, Edgewater Generating Station has been a significant contributor to the electricity grid in Wisconsin. Over the years, several units have been retired, with the plant's decommissioning set for 2025 as part of efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and transition towards more sustainable energy sources.
