East High School offers an academic curriculum that meets the academic and social needs of its diverse student body. The school was presented with the National Secondary School of Excellence award by the Department of Education in 1989. Academically motivating, talented and gifted, and advanced classes are available throughout the curriculum. Its advanced placement courses include calculus, calculus, French, Spanish, music theory, psychology, macroeconomics, microeconomics and computer science. Courses are available in advanced physics, advanced chemistry, anatomy, literature, composition, creative writing, speed reading and computer programming. Computers are available in classrooms, most of which have Internet access. In addition, the school has computer labs in the math and science resource center, business education department, computer science and social studies departments, and a minilab. The school also has a computerized technology center that features more than 25 stations for music composition, desktop publishing, robotics, flight simulation and weather monitoring. East High School is located in Madison, Wis.
