Alpha Sigma is the oldest local sorority in Wisconsin, with a rich history dating back to 1898. As a social sorority, it aims to promote the social, intellectual, and personal growth of young women at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Alpha Sigma has had a significant impact on campus life and has positively influenced the lives of thousands of women who have attended the university.
Originally founded as the Aureolia Society, Alpha Sigma was restructured in 1931 to its present form. The sorority is a proud member of the UWW Panhellenic Council and recruits new members twice a year through formal fall recruitment and informal spring recruitment. With a commitment to sisterhood and empowering women, Alpha Sigma continues to be a vibrant and influential presence on campus.
