The Bureau of Aeronautics is a part of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The bureau manages statewide aeronautics coordination and liaison activities with federal, state and local government bodies, consultants, the construction industry, aviation businesses and other state aviation agencies. It provides products and services that support airport development program standards and processes. The Bureau of Aeronautics conducts airport facility safety inspections, as well as publishes Wisconsin Airport Directory and Wisconsin Aeronautical Chart. It offers technical expertise to nearly 600 Wisconsin airports and heliports and organizes aviation education and safety seminars for pilots, airport managers and administrators. The Bureau of Aeronautics also participates annually in the International Aviation Art Contest.
