Applied Process, established in 1978, is one of the technology leaders in the heat treating industry, using applied austempering technologies to solve engineering problems. Austempering is an isothermal heat treatment that is applied to ferrous materials to produce a structure that is stronger than comparable structures produced with conventional heat treatments. It is of use in industries that create equipment with moving parts that can benefit from increased strength, better wear resistance, noise reduction and weight reduction, such as the railroad equipment, heavy vehicle, construction and mining and agricultural equipment industry. Applied Process has a plant in Oshkosh, Wis.
