Stratford is a village in Marathon County, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,523 at the 2000 census.
According to the town's website Stratford is: "Named after the Canadian hometown of the William D. Connor family, Stratford began as a "company town" in the late 1800s, settled primarily by lumberjacks and farmers. Now, more than 110 years following incorporation in 1891, Stratford bursts with a diverse population nearing 1,600."
