The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is a public agency that works to protect and conserve natural, historic and cultural resources for present and future generations. It operates administration, parks and recreation, wildlife resources, and hunting and fishing units. The division is responsible for the conservation of fish and wildlife species, in addition to providing recreational opportunities to citizens. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources maintains a law enforcement section that works to enforce laws related to littering, forestry, state parks, environmental and solid waste, boating and whitewater rafting. It also responds during emergency situations, such as floods and other natural disasters, as well as assists the state police in cases of violations of natural resources laws. The division maintains one of its locations in Parkersburg, W.Va.
