HistoryThe business was originally founded because of the needs of local Postal workers. If there was a need, and funds were not available to them, several would pitch in and lend the money and it would be paid back with interest. Chartered in 1947, CAPE began as a Multiple Group Common Bond Credit Union organized to serve people who worked within the federal government system. Predominantly, membership was composed of United States Postal Employees working or residing in Clarksburg, Bridgeport and Salem. In 2011 CAPE became federally chartered and in 2015 we expanded our field of membership to become community chartered; serving those who live, work, worship or attend school in Harrison County.SpecialtiesNOT-FOR-PROFIT Credit unions operate to promote the well-being of their members. Profits made by credit unions are returned back to members in the form of reduced fees, higher savings rates and lower loan rates.
