Augusta Heritage Center of Davis and Elkins College is located in Elkins, W.Va. The center conducts various intensive workshops, public concerts, dances, and festivals for more than 2,000 participants every year. Its staff, volunteers and work-study students organize the workshops and events, and various master artists, musicians, dancers, and craftspeople participate in the events. The center s other activities include folklife research and documentation, folk arts apprenticeship program, production of films and audio recordings, and outreach programs for young people and local community. It organizes jam sessions, slow jams, song wraps, and films. The center also conducts daily concerts and lectures on traditional music, Appalachian music and culture, instrument maintenance, and dulcimer lore. It offers a youth scholarship program and programs for beginners.
