The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries provides safety, health and security services to more than 3 million workers in Washington. A part of the state of Washington, the department helps employers meet safety and health standards and inspects workplaces when alerted to hazards. It is also the administrator of the state's workers' compensation system that includes medical and limited wage-replacement coverage for workers who suffer job-related injuries and illnesses. The department serves customers in over 20 offices throughout Washington. It employs nearly 2,700 employees, including safety inspectors, claims specialists, nurses, researchers, accountants, labor experts and support staff.
