The Tacoma Public Library supports learning and knowledge through self-education for residents and visitors. The library offers access to books, magazines, newspapers and journals. It provides computer classes, as well as organizes workshops, storytimes, and cultural and adult programs. The Tacoma Public Library also offers a database of more than 500 clubs and organizations. The library provides a selection of over 130,000 children's books, videos, CDs and story tapes. In addition, it offers library-sponsored programs for adults, children and families. The library operates the Tacoma Public Library Foundation, which encourages children to read and buy books and DVDs. It features community meeting rooms. The library provides interlibrary loan services for print and microform materials. The Tacoma Public Library offers a library card that features access to library collections and items in circulation.
