Washington State Department of Natural Resources manages more than 5 million acres of land that includes forests, farms, commercial properties and underwater lands. It offers a wide range of programs, including the Natural Area Preserves and Natural Resources Conservation, Resources for Small Forest Landowners and the Nearshore Habitat Program. Additionally, it provides various services and assistance to people who own forestland, such as small forest landowners. The department has various divisions that include asset management and protection, engineering and general services, financial management, geology and earth resources, human resources, land management and information technology. Washington State Department of Natural Resources was established in 1889 and is located in Colville, Wash.
