History
Sky View Observatory opened in 1985, when the Columbia Center was completed. 2013 renovations extended the viewing area from 270 degrees to a full 360 degree view. In 2018, the observatory was remodeled to include a dedicated entrance and box office on 4th Avenue, an express elevator direct from Floor 1 to Floor 73, and a full cafe and bar on the 73rd floor.
