HistoryEton School is distinguished by being the first Montessori school to complete the rigorous Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS) accreditation process. In 1992, Eton School received the Blue Ribbon School award from the U.S. Department of Education making the first Montessori school to every receive this award. In 2009, Eton School transitioned from a proprietary business (Eton School Inc.) to a 501(c)3 nonprofit (Eton School Foundation) with a full board . After 34 years, the Director (and former owner), Dr. Patricia Feltin retired. A new Head of School, Dr. Russell Smith started in July 2012. During the 2012-2013 school year, Eton School renewed its dual accreditation--Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS) and American Montessori Society (AMS).SpecialtiesEton School is an independent school where students are curious to learn, and all learners are embraced. From the young three-year-olds in Pre-elementary to students in eighth grade, the love of learning abounds, and leadership develops. When students graduate, they leave with a foundation that prepares them to move on, to take the things they have learned, and to continue to excel. Pre-elementary (age 3-K) and Lower Elementary (grades 1-3) are multi-grade Montessori classrooms. Upper Elementary (grades 4-5) and Middle School (grades 6-8) transition to single-grade classrooms with a continuance of the Montessori philosophy. Eton School holds accreditation by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS). Eton School offers childcare before and after school as well as on most holidays/breaks.
