Jacob Williams is a family owned boutique winery located in the beautiful Columbia Gorge and named in honor of Brad Gearhart's two sons, Jacob and William. For over a decade, Brad and 40+ year wine-making veteran John Haw have dedicated themselves to producing high-quality wines sourced from the finest vineyards in the region.
John Haw's experience started with Warner Vineyards and Leelanau Cellars in Michigan in 1972. He ventured to Oregon, where his family was from, landing at Shafer Vineyards in Forest Grove. He continued on to Sokol Blosser for the next 11 years, which led him to Pedroncelli in Dry Creek, California. Ultimately, he found his way to the Columbia Gorge, first working for Maryhill and then finding his home with Jacob Williams. He believes the Columbia Gorge is the best wine growing region in the nation. John carefully hand selects each vineyard and allows the vineyards to dictate what the style will be. Aging his wines for up to 36 months, John's experience and dedication continue to produce premium award-winning wines year after year.
Jacob Williams Winery started in 2007 with a temporary production facility in Hood River, OR and a small tasting room in Lyle, WA. As they grew into an award-winning winery, producing a larger variety of wines, Jacob Williams began building their new barrel room and tasting room out in Wishram, WA next to Avery Park. Now in their third year at this location, they are ready to expand. Phase two opens this summer; a delightful new tasting room that sits above the beautiful Columbia River with dramatic views of Mt. Hood and the surrounding rolling landscape of vineyards and orchards. Inside their new tasting room resides a large U-shape bar with cozy seating and to enhance the experience they also built a wraparound patio with outdoor seating to take full advantage of the outstanding view.
Visit their new tasting room, take in the spectacular view, while enjoying award-winning wines that are finely crafted, exceptionally expressed, and made in limited quantities for the highest control of quality. It's an experience worth the spectacular journey through the stunning landscape of the Columbia Gorge.
