Founded in 1873, Holland America Line, formerly known as the Netherlands-America Steamship Company, conducts onboard entertainment and five-star dining activities and provides accommodation options. It maintains a fleet of more than 10 mid-sized cargo and passenger ships that offer over 500 sailings every year. The company conducts voyages on various ports in the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Mexico, South America, the Panama Canal, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. It administers the Ship to Shelter program, which collects reusable goods from ships for donation to charitable organizations. Holland America Line organizes arts and cultural activities, athletic expeditions, city tours and shopping activities. Its Holland America Tours subsidiary owns Westmark Hotels and Inns. The company has achieved ISO 14001 certification. It is a recipient of the Five Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, which is one of the largest cruise companies in the world.
