The Green River Gorge Spring Water filling station and the Green River Gorge Wilderness Trail are located at the edge of the old Franklin ghost town. This site has been a source of drinking water and recreation for local residentts since the early 1800's. Today, people come from all over Western Washington to fill their water jugs and take in the beauty of this unique location. The spring water filling station has recently moved across the road to an area with more parking. The same parking lot can be used to access the Green River Gorge Wilderness Trail to the waterfall and down between the high cliffs into the gorge. The trail begins at the East end of the 150 ft high 1916 highway bridge that crosses over the gorge. Trails to the Franklin ghost town, 1599 ft mine shaft, and old cemetary are located on the other side of the bridge.
